How To Organize Your Photos
June is always filled with so many activities and events—the photos we take are the treasured memories. Here we are at my son Brett's high school graduation. I'm grateful to have good systems in place for all the photos I take. What happens to all of your photos once the event has passed? Do you have a good system, or do you have endless digital and print photos lost in chaos? Here are some tips to help keep your memories treasured, organized and accessible.
Organize your prints: Make sure to immediately put the month and year on every paper photo ASAP. This way, if they are pulled out for any reason, you will know where they belong.
Back up: When storing images digitally, have at least two forms of back up. Save to the computer, an external hard drive and to the cloud. Don't rely on photo printing/sharing websites to store your images.
Share with friends and family: Sharing images with friends and family is easier than ever. I love to upload images and create greeting cards with them, it creates a special memento.
Create albums: Digital photo albums are a great way of "printing" your pictures, they also make wonderful gifts. Uploading and creating an album is easier than you may think and there are plenty of sites out there to make it easy.
Don't wait to frame great pictures: Put them up in your home or office to enjoy. If you capture a great shot, make use of it promptly.
Chaos to Order can help: We can organize paper and digital photos alike. From getting everything into chronological order to digital scrapbooks and systems. To schedule a photo organizing session, call us at (847) 825-8400 or request an appointment.
