Friday Favorite: Wire Storage Racks

Pantry Door RackMaking use of every inch of available storage space is critical to staying organized. I love making use of the inside of closet and cabinet doors. Wire door racks are a terrific way to make use of that space. Even in a closet with shelving (like my pantry in the photo), you can place a wire door rack inside–they're only 4" deep! The casing on the door is about the same depth so it won't get in the way. Installation is easy, especially if you purchase the kind that can hang right over the door. Be careful installing on hollow doors, make sure you anchor properly.  I recommend installing it right to the door so it's fixed and doesn't bounce around. Here are some ways I use these door racks in my own home:

  • Pantry Door: Cleaning supplies, food wrap and extra pantry items.
  • Mud Room Closet: Dog treats, brushes and misc. dog items.

  • Office Closet: Office supplies, printer cartridges, sticky notes, markers, etc...

  • Bathroom Closet Door: Toiletries, hairspray, first aid, medicines, etc...

  • Basement Pantry: Extra paper products, napkins, plastic ware, paper cups.
  • Garage: Car cleaning supplies, tools.

Wire door racks are terrific for behind any door as well as on storage wall space. If you have tall doors, you can double up or buy taller racks to make use of as much of the door as possible. Just beware of heavy items going on the door are and make sure the hinges can handle the extra weight. They help keep you organized not only because they provide extra storage space, but they're a great visual aid and allow you to see exactly what you have. Sometimes when things are hiding at the back of a shelf they're forgotten. If your closets and storage areas are in need of some organizing, you can find these wire racks at your local hardware or home improvement store, and of course online. When you're ready to organize it all, schedule an appointment with your favorite organizer from Chaos To Order!
