Organized Ways To Pay Your Bills

We recently marked "National Pay Your Bills Week". In that vein, we thought it was a good time to take a moment and evaluate how you pay bills and if it's the most efficient and effective system. With technology, banking, and money management apps all around, how do you choose what the best method is for your needs?Start with your bank. See what options your bank offers.Technology has moved so quickly that taking advantage of the options the bank has to offer will help keep you organized and save time.Consider the Apps. Payment through banking apps is certainly a quick way to get things done. Spending a little time to set things up allows payments to be made automatically. However if you're not comfortable with that, you can still pay bills online, on a date of your choosing. You can always write a check and mail it, however, that has turned into the most expensive, time-consuming and risky way to pay a bill.Enlist Help to get started. At Chaos To Order, we are big believers in setting up online banking as the most organized and efficient way to pay bills. Many of our organizers help clients get set up with payment systems. We follow the system that's most comfortable to the client after all of their options have been explained.Auto Pay/Contribute Options. Another option is automatic bill payment. This is a good way to pay a bill that's small and you want it automatically deducted as a type of forced accountability. I use automatic bill payment to contribute to kid's college funds. If the money wasn't deducted automatically, I would be more likely to forego the payment from time to time. If a bill comes at an awkward time of the month, you can call the vendor and see if they are willing to change the time of the billing cycle. Often companies are willing to be flexible, so you can set up a regular time to stay on top of banking tasks.Having a good system in place, like any other organizing project, will save valuable time and help to make the process more efficient. Spend a little time this week thinking about the way you pay your bills and make adjustments as necessary. Of course, Chaos To Order is here to help!SaveSave
