Organize Your Refrigerator

Organized RefrigeratorIt's a good idea to organize your refrigerator in preparation of the holidays or hosting any gathering. Here are some tips to get your fridge in order:Whittle it down. 25% of the food we purchase, we don't even eat!  Use up what you have before adding more. Especially before the holidays, clean out that freezer and use up those foods that have been hanging around.Have a "Mustgo" Night. Make a plan to prepare leftovers in the fridge &/or freezer for a meal when everything "must go". This is a great way to get a stuffed fridge or freezer minimized before the deluge a holiday feast can bring.Plan Ahead. It makes so much sense in the kitchen to plan meals ahead. So often we wonder what we can make for dinner at 4:30. Take the time once a week to plan meals. It will save time, energy and money, not to mention you can opt for healthier choices when planning--no impulse eating.Don't over-purchase. That indulgent trip to Costco can be more wasteful than you think. If you're buying in bulk and not eating it, you're really not getting a deal.Organize! When you come home from the grocery store, before putting things away, wipe down the fridge and weed it out. Doing this regularly will help you to know what's in there, what you need, and what you can use for planning meals.Keeping an organized refrigerator will help to know what you have, avoid duplicating and hopefully eat a little healthier!
