If you're motivated to organize on your own, here are some suggestions you can use now as you pull out boxes and start the decorating process:
- This year, since you're reading this and hopefully motivated, make sure you find every box anywhere in your home that has Christmas decor. Gather them all into the same place and try to streamline systems.
- As you bring out boxes, determine what has not been pulled out to display for a while. Consider your options, this might be a great time to hand down some things to another family member, or donate that garland you haven't used since the 80's.
- Once your decorations are out, take some digital photos so that next year you can place things the same way or use the photos to improve upon what you've already done.
- Before you put those empty boxes away, I always suggest you try to fill them with items that are out on display throughout the rest of the year. Holiday decorations aren't meant to be put out in addition to other items, they're meant to replace what's already out. Fill up the boxes so your space will feel less cluttered.
