5 Tips To Wrap Up 2014
Have you been organized in 2014? It’s not too late to finish strong. The year comes to a quick and sudden end after the hectic holidays, so do some planning now. Here are 5 tips to help you finish the year organized:
Files
When was the last time you gave your file cabinet an in-depth purge. Clear out old folders (wait to archive 2014 until taxes are complete) and create new monthly files for statements and expenses in the year ahead. Toss what you can and consider scanning other documents to eliminate paper pile up.
Digital Documents
Go through your computer, clean out the email inbox and organize everything into folders. If you put it off too long, the next year may come and go and they will keep on piling up. Consider archiving old documents onto an external hard drive. Take some time to organize and set ups systems now for easy document retrieval throughout coming year.
Photos
Are your photos from the year(s) a digital nightmare? They may only get worse without a serious organizational intervention. Create monthly photo files and eliminate all the excess. You don’t need 24 selfies from the same occasion cluttering up your photo files!
Taxes
If you want optimal deductions for the year, make sure your books are in order. Gather all tax related papers to keep handy for your accountant, and always keep files on hand for tax deductible receipts.
Home
Take time during (and especially immediately after) the holidays to weed through and purge around the house. Christmas may bring in a flurry of new toys and gadgets, so make way for the incoming with some outgoing. Take a deduction for what you purge by donating your castaways.
