Closet Organizing for The Steve Harvey Show

Back in November we traveled to southern Illinois to do a project for The Steve Harvey Show. Here is the first of the three projects we worked on. this closet was in the guest bedroom, also known as the family game room.The room became a dumping ground for a multitude of different things. It's interesting how stuff can pile up quickly in a space when you're not paying attention. The convenience of putting something off to the side, turned this room into a disaster. Other than a couple of particular areas, the rest of this house was not disorganized. The clutter was basically contained to this room and the garage.To get started, we noticed that the space inside the closet was not optimal, especially since there weren't any shelves to store all of the games and miscellaneous items. We took out the existing rod and shelf and added extra shelving, drawers and double hanging. We also added containers to store some of the smaller items. Containers are handy for getting like things together, labeling and looking great on the shelf. Also changing the hangers so they are all the same not only adds extra hanging space on the rod, it also makes the closet much more organized looking.Once we were finished, the closet looked like this:

When they are compared side by side, you can really see how organizing this closet made a huge difference!
